BWF Funding Research Again

The Badminton World Federation has launched the latest phase of its sports-science initiative with the announcement of a US$70,000 research grant budget for 2017-2018.

Applications will be accepted from institutions or individual academics for funding to assist in badminton-related research projects. For this year, BWF is particularly interested in research connected to the health benefits of badminton and injury prevention. The deadline for the receipt of applications is Friday 4 August, 2017.

The BWF Sports Science Commission has three key objectives with which the research grants are intended to assist:

• To encourage and widen interest and investment in applied research in badminton.

• To improve the level and quantity of scientific material available to players, coaches and badminton practitioners.

• To contribute towards the increased knowledge of performance and safety at the international level – of coaches and players.

Grant applications may pertain to any of the following areas and must be relevant and specifically applicable to badminton:

• Physiology
• Biomechanics
• Sports psychology
• Performance analysis
• Match analysis
• High performance pathways
• Sports Anthropometry
• Sports injuries / injury prevention
• Or other areas as agreed by the Sports Science Commission
