Top seeds Ygor Coelho and Michelle Li claimed the singles titles at the XXI Pan Am Individual Championships 2018 that concluded in Guatemala City yesterday.
Brazil’s Coelho defended his Men’s Singles title beating third seed Jason Anthony Ho-Shue, 21-12 21-15.
Canada’s Michelle Li reclaimed the title that she won in 2014, as she powered her way past compatriot and defending champion Rachel Honderich, 21-15 21-16.
The beaten singles finalists however returned with doubles titles. Ho-Shue and Nyl Yakura held off the challenge from USA’s Phillip Chew/Ryan Chew, 21-17 21-17.
The Women’s Doubles was the longest final of all five, with Honderich and Kristen Tsai emerging triumphant in 47 minutes over compatriots Michelle Tong/Josephine Wu, 17-21 21-17 21-14.
In the first match of the day, Ty Alexander Lindeman and Josephine Wu prevailed in a tight finish, 21-14 26-24, over Nyul Yakura and Kristen Tsai.
