Tai Tzu Ying created history today, becoming the first player from Chinese Taipei to win gold at the Asian Games.

The World No.1 justified her top seeding at the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta, beating third seed Pusarla V Sindhu in the Women’s Singles final today: 21-13 21-16.

Indonesia and China split honours in the finals, winning two gold medals each.

Jonatan Christie emerged Men’s Singles champion, denying Chinese Taipei their first-ever gold medal as he stopped Chou Tien Chen in the first match of the day: 21-18 20-22 21-15.

Men’s Doubles top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo wrapped up a successful event for hosts Indonesia by holding off compatriots Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Fajar Alfian in a three-game thriller, 13-21 21-18 24-22.

The Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles finals were held yesterday, with China winning both gold medals.

Third seeds Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan edged Japan’s Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi 22-20 22-20 in a 70-minute Women’s Doubles final.

World champions Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong enjoyed a quick 21-8 21-15 victory over Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet in the Mixed Doubles final.
