This Week on Badminton Unlimited: Episode 299
Marin recounts her bumpy road to recovery.

We have a bumper show on Badminton Unlimited this week.

The team sits down with Olympic champion and last month’s VICTOR China Open 2019 winner Carolina Marin who recounts her bumpy road to recovery.

Find out how she defied all odds to defend her China Open crown at just her second tournament back after an eight-month injury layoff.

“It hit me hard when the doctor told me that I ruptured something. I started crying a lot, because I knew that I was going to be out of high-level competition for many months. Once I left the hospital, I stopped thinking about the negative things, and I said to myself ‘We have to change the path, but the objective remains the same’. I have to start thinking positive and be patient during rehabilitation.”

Bello is eyeing qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

We also talk to one of Africa’s leading Para badminton athletes Bello Rafio Oyebanji about his passion to grow the sport in Nigeria and his quest to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Also on the programme, it was a brilliant week in Incheon for the Korea Open 2019 – we had five winners from five different nations. We relive the highlights and reactions.

Plus 2019 marks the 120th anniversary of Badminton Ireland. The team takes a look at how far the sport has come since 1899.
