The badminton competition at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held from 29 July to 8 August 2022.

The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games — only the third in England after London (1934) and Manchester (2002) – will begin on Thursday 28 July. A total of 19 sports events will be held over 11 days. Badminton, to be conducted at the NEC, will be held over 23 sessions, with three medal sessions.

While the Commonwealth Games began in 1930, badminton debuted at Kingston (Jamaica) in 1966 and has been played at every Games since. Apart from the five individual events, there will also be a mixed team championships.

England, Malaysia and India have dominated past events; England won the first nine mixed team championships (introduced in 1978), followed by Malaysia, which captured the next four. There were separate men’s and women’s team championships in 1998, with Malaysia (men) and England (women) emerging victorious. India won the mixed team championships at the last Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, beating Malaysia in the final.
