Chinese Taipei beat China to win the Mixed Team competition of the Chengdu FISU World University Games in an exciting final on Wednesday.
In a session of fluctuating fortunes, Chinese Taipei twice came back from behind to take the tie 3-2, with Lee Chia Hsin/Teng Chun Hsun clinching the final match 21-12 27-25 over Li Wen Mei/Liu Xuan Xuan in women’s doubles.
Earlier, China had taken the opening mixed doubles; He Ji Ting/Du Yue outclassing Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin 21-11 21-12.
Chinese Taipei struck back through Thailand Masters 2023 champion Lin Chun-Yi, as he passed a stiff test in men’s singles over Wang Zhengxing 22-20 21-17.
Han Yue gave China the lead in women’s singles with a comfortable 21-17 21-6 result over Hsu Wen Chi.
Ren Xiang Yu/Tan Qiang gave China the opening game in men’s doubles, but their opponents Lee Fang-Chih/Ye Hong Wei bounced back to take the next two games and make it 2-2 for Chinese Taipei before Lee Chia Hsin/Teng Chun Hsun wrapped up the tie for their team.
